Important meeting updates
IBD Edinburgh 2022; COVID and IBD - Facebook live with Crohn's Colitis UK
Two updates today:
IBD Edinburgh 2022 is going ahead as a virtual event on 13th January 2022
Updates for patients on COVID and IBD with a Facebook live from Monday
IBD Edinburgh 2022
Despite Omicron we are going ahead with the event on 13th January 2022.
This will be a virtual event like no other - our expert faculty will come to you live from a TV studio. This high-quality production will be fully immersive and interactive. I’m working hard over the next week on updates to the agenda.
Please go to IBD Edinburgh 2022 now to register and join us live on the day.
Note this event is designed for healthcare professionals and all those working in the field of IBD. A separate event for patients will follow at a later date.
Last week we sent this message out to all registered participants
Dear Charlie,
Thank you for registering for our IBD Edinburgh 2022 - Holistic Remission: From Bench to Bedside. Due to the development of the Omicron variant across the UK we have made the decision to move the event to be a virtual broadcast from a studio location.
Whilst we know many of you were looking forward to getting together in person after many a remote meeting, we know that the topic and content of this event is as exciting as it is important in clinical practice, hence the decision to go ahead with the same date and same incredible line up of speakers.
We are working hard behind the scenes to bring you a broadcast worthy event that will offer you the opportunity to still be very much involved within the day, ask questions to faculty members and make a meaningful contribution to the meeting.
We will automatically transfer your registration to a virtual attendee ticket and keep you updated on any time changes schedule in light of the new format. Please do also check your emails for other exciting opportunities to get involved in the coming weeks.
Should you have any questions or queries please email events@ibd-edinburgh.co.uk.
We look forward to seeing you on the 13th of January and hope to have some more exciting updates about the event in the coming weeks.
We look forward to seeing you there,
Charlie, Tim and Ailsa
Patient Update on COVID and IBD
On Monday night this week Crohn’s and Colitis UK hosted a Facebook live event on COVID and IBD.
I chaired a panel discussion with
Tariq Ahmad and Nick Kennedy - both from the amazing Exeter IBD team and the CLARITY IBD Study
Nick Powell - Imperial College and lead on the VIP study
Kerry Robinson - lead IBD nurse from the Sheffield IBD team
We were joined by over 400 people live and discussed:
the latest data from CLARITY IBD Study showing how the 3rd primary vaccine doses massively increase antibodies against SARS-CoV2 spike protein
the reassuring data from VIP study on vaccines responses in patients on other common drugs for IBD (I hope to share the preprint for this very soon)
the antiviral treatments now approved for use in vulnerable groups, including some patients with IBD
how to stay well over the festive period and what to do if you have a flare
I’m pleased to say the FB live recording has been very popular with over 6.5k views and over 400 comments. Don’t worry if you missed it live you can access it here although please note that some of the information will already be out of date!
For more information and real-time update head to the Crohn’s Colitis UK website where you can find a Q&A on COVID and IBD
